We are The Garden Club of Cleveland, founded in Cleveland, Ohio in 1912, by nine ladies and three gentlemen of great vision and vigor. A charter was signed undertaking "To cultivate the spirit of gardening in its fullest sense together with an appreciation of civic beauty and betterment in and about Cleveland." One year later, in 1913, we were elected to the newly formed Garden Club of America. Although our numbers have increased greatly over the years, and we no longer have any gentlemen in our club, we remain a congenial group that enjoys the same vision that our founders expressed in the charter. We have supported with our time, talent, and treasure many projects that deal with conservation, horticulture, civic projects, flower shows, education and beautification of the world around us.
